Alibaba Jack Ma's detention refuted by authoritarian sources in China - Marketing Interactive
A person surnamed Ma has reportedly been imposed curbs in Hangzhou by Chinese authorities. However, a report from CCTV said the accused person’s name contains three Chinese characters instead of two, as Ma's name contains two Chinese characters only.
According to Chinese state media CCTV, the person was placed under compulsory measures after being accused of inciting subversion of state power and other activities endangering national security. The case is under investigation, according to the same report. Former editor-in-chief of Global Times Hu Xijin said on his Weibo that he had confirmed the news with an "authoritative department" about the news. The name of the detained person contains three characters. "Reports that mention the detained person with his or her name containing only two characters are incorrect," he said.
Associate professor of the college of international relations, Huaqiao University Huang Rihan also posted a set of photos showing Ma plating tress, confirming that Ma is safe. He added, "He was plating trees on 1 May." In another post, he said," The person who mistakenly wrote the news should bear the responsibility. With the difference of only one character, the stock loses ¥100 billion."

Tena’s frank and funny new campaign focuses on the relationship between a daughter and her mother as she navigates the menopause. It’s an unusual treatment, but agency AMV BBDO developed the concept armed with a “horrifying” statistic that over 80% of women will rarely talk to their own mothers about the experience.
“We know that the conversation is not there today – at work, at home or with your kids,” says Meta Redstedt, the global master brand and communications director at Tena.
“Women normally never talk with their mum about the menopause. And we know from the statistics that if women are better prepared, they will suffer less from the symptoms and feel better about the whole thing. So we wanted to have an inter-generation conversion that women could identify with.”

VMLY&R appoints first chief growth officer in Asia | Marketing
VMLY&R has promoted Camellia Tan to the newly created role of chief network growth officer in Asia. In this role, Tan will be responsible for the planning, design and execution of VMLY&R’s growth strategy for Asia, focusing on new and existing markets in line with key network client opportunities. She will also ensure that the company is prepared to operationally support existing and new businesses by way of building, buying, and integrating capabilities.
Prior to this, Tan was managing director of VMLY&R’s network development in Asia for four years during which she set up the ecommerce practice in Southeast Asia. She also grew the agency’s Caltex remit from regional brand AOR to become the network's integrated lead agency—this included digital transformation covering data, marketing automation and experience design. Chinese social platform Xiaohongshu is reportedly cutting about one-tenth of its staff amid the authority's crackdown on tech companies.
According to multiple reports including Reuters and theSouth China Morning Post, the layoffs were the results of an annual performance review conducted in March, in which the company found that about 10% of its employees' performances failed to reach expectations.
